韓国美術史を専攻し、大学で非常勤講師を務めるジユン(イ・ヨンエ)は世紀の発見と言われる絵画「金剛山図」の発表を任せられるが、贋作疑惑が持ち上がる。失意のジユンは教授就任をかけた重要な学会に出席するためイタリアに向かう。そこで偶然サイムダン(イ・ヨンエ、二役)の日記を手に入れたジユン。本に押された印を手掛かりにある古宅を訪れると、そこには自分そっくりの女性が描かれた「美人図」があった。日記を読み進めると、そこにはサイムダンとイ・ギョム(ソン・スンホン)、2人の芸術家の切ない愛や、「金剛山図」の真作の行方が書かれていた…
