目的はもちろん、空気の濾過。
エンジン内にゴミや砂などが入らないよう、ここで空気をきれいにしてクリーンな空気をエンジンに供給するのがエアフィルタの役目です。
■交換理由
大気中には、砂、ほこりなど車にとって大敵な不純物が多く存在しています。
エアフィルタは、走行距離を重ねる毎に不純物が付着し性能が低下していきます。
目づまりしたフィルタでは、充分な空気が送り込めず燃焼のバランス（空燃比）が崩れエンジンの不調や燃費の低下の原因につながるために交換が必要になります。
■交換時期
各車の整備手帳、取扱い説明書に定められた交換時期が基準ですが、使用環境、使用状況により変わります。
