現代ブラジルを代表するレーベルとなりつつあるホシナンチ(Rocinante)より、2021年末にレコードで発売され話題となっていたマルセロ・ガルテルのデビュー作が待望のCD化。デビュー作となる本作では、伝統的なジャズのピアノ・トリオをベースとしつつ、ドラマーの代わりに二人のパーカッショニストを配置。カラフルかつ緊密なアンサンブルをバックに、時にリリカルに、時にアブストラクトなピアノを披露していく。アフロ・ブラジル音楽と聞いて一般に思い浮かべる爆発的な祝祭性はないが、その芳醇なリズムが喚起する小宇宙的アンサンブル、そしてセロニアス・モンクやメシアン、ドリヴァル・カイミといった巨人たちからの影響が調和したピアノには、強烈なアフロ・ブラジル性が滲む。 (C)RS
