※1963年1月、デュークのヨーロッパツアーがスタート。イタリアでは2月21日、ミラノのジュゼッペ・ヴェルディ音楽院大ホールでノーマン・グランツが主催したコンサートが大盛況。その模様はライヴ録音されたものの、後半部分はお蔵入りしてしまったのだが、世界最古のジャズ雑誌『Musica Jazz』の1991年12月号の付録となって登場。それが本CD。
※収録曲のうち3曲は、ジョニー・ホッジスと復帰した“クーチー（チャールズ・ウィリアムズ）”が共演。
※「04 Take The "A" Train」は、1941年のオリジナルとは大きく異なり必聴。ダブルベースに絡むピアノのコードとともに、ヴォーカルのスキャットが魅力的。
