UFO - Making Contact With Billy 1983
1983年「MAKING CONTACT」リリース後のヨーロッパ・ツアーより、ごく短期間ツアー・メンバーとして、ビリー・シーンが参加していた時のライブがここに。メンバーは、フィル・モグ(vo)、ポール・チャップマン(g)、ビリー・シーン(b)、ニール・カーター(key,g)、アンディ・パーカー(ds)で、前年オリジナル・メンバーだったピート・ウェイが脱退し、アルバムもベーシスト不在でレコーディングされた中、タラスで活動していたビリーにオフォーし実現したもの。ただし、アルバム・リリースにあたり、アメリカでの成功に的を絞り、ソングライティングをニール・カーター中心にしたことで、音楽の方向性も変わり、またそれがセールスには反映されなかったため、ツアーも苦しい状況に追い込まれ、さらにフィル・モグの極度のアルコール中毒で、ツアーも混乱を極め、結局ビリーは1ヶ月間のみ帯同し、脱退後はタラスに戻り、UFOもバンド活動停止せざるを得なくなり、この秋にファイナル・ツアーを行うことに。そのような状況ながら、ここでのライブ・パフォーマンスは素晴らしく、またビリーのソロ・パートもちゃんと用意されているあたりは、やはり彼の評価と存在感ならではと言えるもの。いずれにしても貴重なライブを高音質でお聴き頂けるレアタイトル。
