ニュー・クリスタル・サイレンスで、コラボレーション開始から３５周年を飾ったチック＆ゲイリー。７０年代ＥＣＭ時代の活躍・ジャケットの美しさの印象があまりに鮮烈なので、少し印象が薄いかもしれないが、チック＆ゲイリーのピアノ
とヴィブラホンの冴え渡る清冽な音の響きが好きな人は忘れずに本作もコレクションに加えて欲しい。確かに７０年代
ＥＣＭ時代の３作、つまり「クリスタル・サイレンス」「デュエット」「イン・コンサート」での「セニョール・マウス」「ラ・フィエスタ」
のような派手な曲は含まれていないし、ジャケットもＥＣＭ時代のデザインと比較するとシンプルだが、どの曲でも彼らなら
ではの音宇宙を築いており、そのクォリティの高さはさすがとしかいいようがない。粒よりの名演揃いである。ゲイリーが
マリンバも演奏している＃２、４、そして「ニュー・クリスタル・サイレンス」でも採り上げられた＃３は特にお薦めだ。また、
チックの曲＃７を２０世紀クラシックの巨匠バルトークの曲＃６、８の短い演奏で挟んで組曲のように聴かせる趣向も面白い。
モンクの曲（＃１１）だけでなく、バルトークの曲も違和感なく取り込んでしまうこのコンビの包容力の大きさを味わえる作品である。
